Pharmacokinetic dosing considerations in special populations, such as the elderly, neonates, and children, are also discussed. Drugs with unique pharmacokinetic properties are also covered, such as the aminoglycosides, phenytoin, and vancomycin, among many others.

**Purpose**
The book is designed to help determine drug doses to achieve target drug concentrations for medications affected by pharmacokinetic parameters. It also discusses pharmacokinetic controversies, such as the best way to determine renal function in certain populations or the most accurate dose to use in morbidly obese patients. These are issues that clinical pharmacists wrestle with in clinical practice and, often, complete data and guidelines are lacking for special populations. About the Author

John E. Murphy, PharmD, is Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Science and Associate Dean for Academic and Professional Affairs at the College of Pharmacy, and Professor of Clinical, Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine, the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is also an Honorary Professor at the University of Otago School of Pharmacy in Dunedin, New Zealand. Dr. Murphy served as Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the College of Pharmacy from 1991 to 2006. John received BS in pharmacy and PharmD degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he was a recipient of the Distinguished Pharmacy Alumnus Award in 1998. He spent 12 years on the faculty at Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, where he also served as Director of Pharmacokinetic Services at a 500 bed medical center.

Long active in pharmacy organizations, Dr. Murphy was president of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) in 2008-2009. He served as president (1997-1998) and member of the Board of Directors (1994-1999) of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and as president of the Georgia Society of Hospital Pharmacists. John has been awarded fellow status in three organizations – ACCP, the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, and ASHP.

Dr. Murphy has published over 200 papers, ~ 90 abstracts, and four editions of Clinical Pharmacokinetics. John was Co-Director from 2000-2005 of the Arizona Clinical Research Training Program (AzCRTP), an NIH K30 Clinical Research Curriculum Award. His research interests include preventing drug-drug interactions, pharmacy education, and clinical pharmacokinetics. Among various professional and teaching awards received over the years, John was honored with the Award for Sustained Contributions to the Literature of Pharmacy Practice from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Foundation in 2003.

So I spent the last two weeks learning this incredible sounding DAW and just getting back to finish reading this EQ book. (I had never heard of Mixbus 32C 3 weeks ago. I highly recommend checking out the demo of Mixbus 32C.)Check out Juth's video on youtube entitled "The Art of Equalization" also.At the end of the video he mentions "Register with MasteringTown.com and receive a Free Mastering session with Thomas Juth." After registering you can view the different mastering options. I want to wait until my mixing advance beyond novice level and then I'll definitely give his mastering a try.Back to the EQ book: he mentions decision making at different frequency ranges as dichotomies, i.e. either or, which is really helpful in decision making and also training my ears to problems and what the trade offs are in attenuating or exposing by addition EQ or else a lo Q substractive EQ applied elsewhere. I'm trying to devise a similar sequence of dichotomies for approaching compression decision making to add to the knowledge I gleaned from his book the Art of Compression. Perhaps another book on trade offs between EQ and compression and their ordering in the processing list would be well received also!Just purchased Juth's "The Art of Creating Depth in a Mix". Hope to start reading that tonight.I think I read somewhere he's working on another book about pursuing a career in mixing. Looking forward to that even though I'm only a weekend hobbyist, music isn't my day job.I hope Juth writes about preparing a mix for mastering. I'm just learning about the K-metering system and trying to understand Mixbus 32C analysis report and was trying to understand the issues of loudness from the articles at digitdo.com which I could only comprehend about 25% of because they were very technical.Thanks again to the author for writing these excellent books. In the last 4 weeks I've advanced more than in the last 4 years trying different online training videos, etc. The lights on starting to come on. :)

I've been excited about this book's release ever since I read Juth's first book about the art of compression. I've always tried to capture the best audio possible at the source, but when things don't seem to fit together like a puzzle I generally start questioning my EQ choices. This book is a quick read and really insightful for understanding proper and creative ways of using EQ, which was definitely a confidence booster for me. This book is a must read for anyone serious about engineering and wanting to get more confidence in their EQ choices. Juth has awesome insights on both EQ and compression, and I'm grateful he felt the desire to share his years of wisdom with the world, because it's helped me out a bunch.

As all the series, very informative and easy to read book. Many advices ans useful tips. A definitely use some tips as a guide during my nex mix. Thanks.
